Essex Market is excited to welcome Khushbu Shah to celebrate the release of her expansive new look at Indian American cookery, Amrikan. She'll be talking about the book with Deb Perelman of Smitten Kitchen and there will be treats from Essex Market's Michelin-awarded restaurant Dhamaka,

In her eagerly anticipated debut cookbook, award-winning food writer Khushbu Shah invites readers on a journey far beyond butter chicken (though she has a stellar recipe for it), to discover the diversity of flavors, techniques, and excitement that India’s vast regional cuisines offer—a variety discovered and celebrated in Indian American home cooking.

Adaptation: “It’s the foundation upon which Indian cooking in America is built,” notes Khushbu. “As generations of immigrants and their children innovated with the ingredients and influences surrounding them, completely new dishes have emerged that are neither fully Indian nor fully American in their origins but delicious culinary innovations entirely unique to this diaspora.”
