French-born and California-trained, Dominque Crenn holds two Michelin stars for her San Francisco restaurant, Atelier Crenn. Her sophisticated and elegant food combines an array of influences that also includes a stint in Indonesia, and reflects her self-taught embrace of some modernist cooking techniques.
At the same time her cooking retains an intimacy and warmth that seems to elude some other modernist practitioners. This is a gorgeous and joyful collection that offers visual rewards as well as the satisfaction of reading an articulate and thoughtful chef.
